Follow-On Investment in Takumi Engineering’s Series A Round, Developer of Factory Management DX System

INVESTMENT

Genesia Ventures has made a follow-on investment in Takumi Engineering through its Genesia Venture Fund No. 3 (GV-3) as part of the company’s Series A round. Takumi Engineering provides the factory management Digital Transformation (DX) system Takumi Force.

About Takumi Engineering

Takumi Engineering is a startup that develops and provides Takumi Force, a factory management DX system designed for manufacturing supplier companies.

Japan’s manufacturing industry forms the backbone of its economy, yet faces critical challenges in productivity improvement, technical knowledge transfer, and fair business practices. While software and AI solutions offer promising solutions, their adoption remains low among small and medium-sized suppliers, who make up 99% of the market.

With its mission of “fostering fair, sustainable, and proud manufacturing,” Takumi Engineering addresses these challenges through Takumi Force, a next-generation factory management DX system. This all-in-one solution focuses on cost estimation while incorporating drawing management and cost calculation features. The system enables supplier companies to boost productivity despite labor shortages, facilitate technical knowledge transfer, and ensure fair business practices. Companies across Japan’s manufacturing sector — from small and medium-sized suppliers to large manufacturing enterprises — have successfully implemented these solutions.

Guided by its vision of “bringing the benefits of technology to all businesses,” the company delivers solutions that enhance artisanal expertise to businesses forming the industrial foundation.

Background and Purpose of Fundraising

Takumi Engineering has primarily focused on developing Takumi Force, a DX solution that specializes in streamlining cost estimation — a core factory management task.

In the 18 months since the last funding round, the company has achieved significant successes. Users have reported a 50% reduction in estimation lead times and successful knowledge transfer between generations, with expertise flowing from senior employees in their 70s to younger staff in their 30s. Additionally, the company continues to see steady growth in its customer base.

A standout feature of Takumi Force lies in its automatic collection of unique management and operational data from each company, requiring no manual input from users. This capability has made it essential for users’ daily operations.

Building on its existing manufacturing-specific system (vertical SaaS), Takumi Engineering plans to use this funding to develop manufacturing-specific AI (vertical AI). This initiative will launch with the development of Takumi Force AI.

The funds will also be used to accelerate business growth by strengthening organizational capabilities through the recruitment of managers and team members across business, product, and corporate divisions.

About the Investment

Masami Ichinohe, Investment Manager at Genesia Ventures
Over the three years since our initial seed investment, the management team has regularly visited manufacturing sites to gather customer insights, achieving product-market fit through persistent effort.

Looking back to when we first invested, when the team was still exploring product direction, it’s incredible to see the remarkable growth they have achieved. This marks our third investment in Takumi Engineering across initial and follow-on rounds. On a personal level, it’s especially rewarding to continue working with the founding team, which includes three former classmates from my university days.

Having grown up in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture — a hub of manufacturing — I have a deep attachment to Japan’s manufacturing industry. Together with the Takumi Engineering team, we will take on bold challenges to strengthen Japanese manufacturing’s competitive edge.
