About Genesia Ventures
Genesia Ventures is an independent venture capital firm that provides investment and management support to pre-seed and seed stage startups. The name “Genesia” is a portmanteau of “Genesis,” signifying creation, and “Asia.” Since our establishment in 2016, our focus has been on investing in Asia. After setting up our headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, we expanded our presence by establishing representative offices in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2018, and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2019. As of November 2023, we have further extended our reach by establishing a new local subsidiary in Bangalore, India, and have started investing in the country.

Genesia Ventures’ strength lies in having teams and investment experience in Japan and Southeast Asia. For seed-stage startup entrepreneurs in India looking to take their services global, there are still not many VCs that can serve as a bridge between India, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
Moreover, India is currently experiencing a surge in B2B SaaS. With the appointment of Shunsuke Sagara, who has investment experience in B2B SaaS and business experience in a global SaaS company, as a local representative, we believe his expertise in business creation and management support can be utilized effectively in this sector.

On the other hand, in emerging countries including India, startups are increasingly evolving through combinations of E-Commerce x SaaS and SaaS x Fintech; rather than focusing on a single business model, we plan to invest in unique, compound startups that enhance customer value through multiple monetization strategies, as well as in global startups considering future expansion into Southeast Asia and Japan.
Furthermore, startups in Southeast Asia are also seeking connections with Indian VCs, insights into India’s notable sectors and startups, and access to networks in India. As such, we will leverage our distinctive geographical positioning to provide management support to our portfolio companies.
